Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump plans to appear in the District on Sunday to show support for the annual Rolling Thunder motorcycle ride, a campaign adviser confirmed Thursday.

Rolling Thunder seeks to raise awareness for veterans issues and to remember prisoners of war and those missing from combat situations.

Bloomberg Politics first reported that Trump plans to make an appearance.

"I am doing it in honor of the great bikers who have been totally supportive of my campaign and now I want to be supportive of them," Trump said in a statement to Bloomberg Politics. "I look forward to it!"

Rolling Thunder plans to hold its First Amendment Demonstration Run at noon Sunday, according to the event's website. The ride will go from the Pentagon's north parking lot through the Mall area.
