Hillary Clinton's campaign is sustaining the pressure on Donald Trump with a new testimonial video and small-business policy aimed at bringing attention to Trump's treatment of small businesses who were involved in the development of his casinos and hotels.
According to Andrew Tesoro, he was hired to design the ballroom at the Trump National Golf Club but was only paid a fraction of the amount that he billed Trump.
"I had already accepted less than the total monies due to my firm," Tesoro said. "And [Trump] basically said he only wanted to pay me half of that amount."
Tesoro alleges that he was "bullied" by Trump and his lawyers into accepting less money because the cost of suing Trump would be too high.
Tesoro said he and his business absorbed the loss and he drew on savings for his son's college to get by for several years.
Clinton also released a new policy plan that her campaign said would enhance the legal protections for small businesses facing unpaid bills from larger companies. The proposal would also increase federal regulatory enforcement for businesses that have a pattern or practice of not paying small businesses.
On Wednesday, Clinton highlighted the story of a different vendor who said that Trump's company failed to pay him for his work on an Atlantic City casino.
