President Obama will headline a fundraiser on behalf of presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in Atlanta on Aug. 1, according to individuals briefed on the event.

The event, in which donors are asked to donate at least $33,400 to Clinton’s campaign, highlights the president’s intensified effort to support his former secretary of state’s bid to succeed him. Earlier this month, Obama campaigned with Clinton for the first time in Charlotte, N.C.

Clinton officials see Obama’s appeal to Democratic donors as one of several assets he can offer her campaign, according to White House aides and other Democratic officials, as well as his ability to testify to her character and mobilize the party’s base.

The fundraiser, which was first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, will take place in the home of former LexisNexis Group chief executive Andy Prozes and his wife, architect Laura Heery.
