Elaine Chao, the former labor secretary, is nominated to lead the Transportation Department. Her confirmation hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

Retired Gen. James Mattis, who served more than four decades in the Marines, is Trump's pick to head the Defense Department. His hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
