Trump reacted Wednesday morning through a series of tweets to news about a classified report given to him last week that summarized allegations that Russian intelligence services have compromising material on his personal life and finances.
“Intelligence agencies should never have allowed this fake news to ‘leak’ into the public,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “One last shot at me. Are we living in Nazi Germany?”
The Anti-Defamation League says it seeks to fight anti-Semitism through programs and services that “counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.”
It is not the first time the organization has criticized Trump. The group spoke out against his proposed temporary ban on Muslims entering the country.
And in November, it voiced opposition to Trump’s appointment of Stephen K. Bannon as a senior counselor in the White House. Bannon was executive chairman of Breitbart News, a publication that Greenblatt characterized as ‘the premier website of the ‘alt-right’ — a loose-knit group of white nationalists and unabashed anti-Semites and racists.”
Regarding Wednesday’s tweet, Greenblatt said: “We have a long record of speaking out when both Democrats and Republicans engage in such overheated rhetoric. It would be helpful for the President-Elect to explain his intentions or apologize for the remark.”
