Welcome to March Madness, another time of year that unites the political world for its favorite pastime: beating the other guy.

You can’t get on Twitter right now without seeing everyone’s brackets, and that goes for the White House, governors and members of Congress, too. We pulled together all the completed brackets we could find from these groups — 29 in total — to do a little armchair analysis as the tournament gets underway.

This year, the team most favored to win among lawmakers who released their brackets was Michigan State: Six lawmakers who posted their brackets on Twitter predicted the Spartans would win the championship, including Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.). This was, of course, before MSU’s stunning loss to Middle Tennessee on Friday busted everyone’s brackets:

Next in line was Kansas, which had four lawmakers predicting it would win. President Obama also thinks the Jayhawks can go all the way.

Here’s a breakdown of predictions from the political world about which team will prevail:

  • Green Bay Phoenix: Rep. Reid Ribble (R-Wis.)
  • Hawaii Rainbow Warriors: Rep. Mark Takai (D-Hawaii)
  • Kansas Jayhawks: President Obama, Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-Kan.)
  • Kentucky Wildcats: Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.)
  • Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans: Rep. French Hill (R-Ark.)
  • Maryland Terrapins: Gov. Larry Hogan (R), Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.)
  • Miami Hurricanes: Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-Fla.)
  • Michigan State Spartans: Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.), Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.), Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.), Rep. Luke Messer (R-Ind.), Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio), Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wis.)
  • North Carolina Tar Heels: Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.)
  • Oklahoma Sooners: Rep. Elizabeth Esty (D-Conn.)
  • Providence Friars: Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.)
  • Utah Runnin’ Utes: Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah)
  • Villanova Wildcats: Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.)
  • Virginia Cavaliers: Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.)
  • West Virginia Mountaineers: Rep. David McKinley (R-W.Va.)

The easy part of my #marchmadness bracket: putting @marylandterrapins all the way. The hard part: who loses to them?
