It was the middle of February. Debate over whether the Senate should consider a nominee to replace the late Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia was ramping up. On Twitter, conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt coined #NoHearingsNoVotes to shape the Republican position, and it took off.

Now, Democrats are trolling the right with their own versions of the slogan. At the center of the effort is We Need Nine, a pressure campaign on behalf of nominee Merrick Garland led by former aides to President Obama. On Thursday, the campaign’s Twitter account began soliciting ideas from users fed up with the #NoHearingsNoVotes position, specifically aiming at Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah):

Previously, critics of Senate Republicans’ approach to the Supreme Court vacancy used the hashtag #DoYourJob. Hatch is not a fan, he tweeted Thursday:
