Marissa Serafino, a former legislative aide for Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), has joined Holland & Knight, one of K Street’s biggest lobby firms — the second Shaheen staffer to leave Capitol Hill in recent months to take a downtown job.
Serafino joined the firm in August, according to congressional tracker Legistorm and her LinkedIn profile. Brian McKeon, Shaheen’s former legislative director and acting chief of staff, joined the lobbying group at Brownstein Hyatt around the same time.
Shaheen’s former senior health policy adviser, Alison MacDonald, also departed over the summer to work for the New Hampshire hospital system Dartmouth-Hitchcook, as vice president of policy and federal affairs.
With Democrats having a strong chance of retaking the Senate in November, Senate Democratic aides have become a hot recruit for lobby firms.
Serafino was not immediately available to comment. At Holland, she is working as a public affairs adviser in the public policy group. She was a legislative correspondent for Shaheen, drafting legislation and advising on energy and environmental policy.
Holland & Knight is Washington’s fifth largest lobby firm by revenue, reporting $9.6 million in lobbying fees in 2015.
