Ever since 2010, when Ariana Alston, Carson Cyphers, Corinne Giroux, Ashley Herndon, Emily Lung and Murielle Tiernan joined the Stone Bridge varsity girls’ soccer team as just freshmen, success has followed this talented group. In three seasons, they’ve compiled a 50-7-5 record, including an undefeated run to the Virginia AAA state title in 2010 and two Northern Region championships.

On Thursday, these six seniors celebrated another accomplishment together with each signing to play soccer at a Division I program.

–Alston will play at Florida Atlantic. The defender has overcome a stress fracture, concussion and anterior cruciate ligament tear, earning All-Met honorable mention honors in 2011.

–Cyphers, who has earned All-Liberty District honors in each of the last two seasons as a midfielder/defender, signed to play at Virginia Commonwealth.

–Giroux, a defender who was named All-Met honorable mention last season, will take her talents to William & Mary.

–Herndon is the school’s most dynamic scorer, holding the record for most goals in a game (five), season (29) and career (77 and counting). The first team All-Met forward will play at James Madison.

–Lung, a midfielder who played a key role in the Bulldogs finishing No. 1 in ESPN’s 2010 national rankings, signed to play at Loyola.

–Tiernan was named All-Met Player of the Year last season after recording 24 goals and 17 assists. The forward will play at Virginia Tech.
