Centreville knocked off Concorde District foe Herndon, 9-8. The Hornets (7-4) took an early two-run lead Monday, but the Wildcats (6-3) stormed back on a two-run homer by freshman shortstop Kaleigh Berry in the top of the third inning to tie the score. After the Hornets went ahead 3-2, the Wildcat offense exploded for five runs in the fifth inning.

Centreville added two more runs in the top of the seventh to extend the score to 9-3. The Hornets almost pulled off a comeback in their final at-bat, but come up just short. Other Wildcats having a solid night at the plate included senior right fielder Amanda Meny (two RBI), junior designated player Lexi Hunter (two hits), junior third baseman Natalie Hopkins (one RBI), senior left fielder Lauren Knoble (two hits), and junior center fielder Morgan Yi (two hits). Sophomore pitcher Gretchen Kernbach got her sixth win by striking out four, walking two, and giving up six hits.
