UPDATE: Da’Shawn Hand announced he will attend Alabama next year. Click here for much more.

On Thursday, Nov. 14th (his 18th birthday), Woodbridge senior defensive end and nationally-coveted recruit Da’Shawn Hand will make his highly-anticipated college choice public for the first time in front of a live audience. In cooperation with Yahoo/Rivals.com, the live coverage will stream on washingtonpost.com/sports starting at 12:30 p.m. Hand’s decision between Alabama, Florida and Michigan will come in front of the entire Woodbridge student body at a pep rally in the school’s gymnasium. The announcement comes on the eve of the Vikings’ Virginia 6A South region first-round playoff matchup against top-seed Varina on Friday.

Hand has paid official visits to all three schools, most recently to Florida on Saturday. The announcement will be among the final chapters in The Post’s weekly documentary video series ‘First and 17’, which has chronicled Hand’s senior season beginning in August. The series will continue through the end of the Vikings’ season.

On Wednesday, The Washington Post (@PostTV) hosted a live Twitter chat with Rivals.com recruiting analysts Mike Farrell and Adam Friedman and Washington Post video journalist Brad Horn, who has spent the season behind-the-scenes with Hand and the Woodbridge Vikings.
