Recently-minted Penn State Coach James Franklin has put together the 22nd ranked recruiting class, according to ESPN, and his first haul as Nittany Lions coach includes four players from the D.C. area. Briar Woods quarterback Trace McSorley, Fairfax running back Nick Scott, DeMatha running back Mark Allen and Wise defensive back Marcus Allen all faxed their signed letters-of-intent to State College, Pa. early Wednesday, much to the delight of the Penn State coaching staff.

Scott, a first-team All-Met, was a standout at quarterback and running back and finished the season with 1,582 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns. He put pen to paper alongside his parents this afternoon.

Marcus Allen will likely play safety at Penn State and is recovering from surgery to repair torn ligaments in his ankle. Mark Allen gained 222 yards in a loaded DeMatha backfield and has great hands.
