Ah, the best laid plans…

Heading into Wednesday morning, the All-Met Sports team had an all-out National Signing Day blitz planned for your enjoyment on Recruiting Insider: a flurry of posts about the area’s top players making their choices, reporters ready to send you pictures of pens touching paper from all over the DMV, and a look ahead at next year’s class coming your way.

Fortunately, a half inch of ice can’t freeze our team, and we’re still ready to go — just a little less sure of when and where we’re going — despite school cancellations and delays that may or may not force players to alter their Signing Day ceremony plans. So here’s what you need to know heading into what should be a crazy, slippery, and exciting National Signing Day in the DMV:

— The signing of Bishop McNamara OL Damian Prince (scheduled for 10:20 am, ESPNU)

Prince, who’s overcome tragedy and adversity on his journey to the top of national recruiting boards, is the top uncommitted lineman in his class, and is said to be making a decision between Florida and Maryland when he makes his choice official this morning on ESPNU. No word on whether waking up to freezing temperatures and inches of ice has pushed Prince towards the Gators…

— Last minute commitment switches

At this point in the game, unexpected changes of heart aren’t necessarily likely, but they aren’t impossible, either. With so many top area players making those always-tenuous oral commitments official, you just never know. Here’s the Post’s list of top players expected to sign Wednesday. Most are already orally committed somewhere. Stay tuned.

— Who’s next?

Because it’s only 365 days until #NationalSigningDay2015, the Post will have you covered with a list of the players who will headline this day next year. Tariq Lee will be bringing that list to you later today, once we’ve sorted out a few of those players signing this year.

For updates: Follow @AllMetSports to see that story as soon as it’s published, and for a collection of Signing Day notes and news from around the area.
