Most of the Maryland high school soccer teams still alive in the postseason moved up their region semifinals and finals to Monday to avoid the Election Day business around the region. Here's a rundown of the action as several boys' and girls' teams punched their tickets to the state semifinal round.
4A East region final: Severna Park 1, Leonardtown 0
Severna Park defeated Southern Maryland Athletic Conference champion Leonardtown, which entered the Maryland 4A East region final with a 15-0 record. After an impressive defensive performance, senior Scott Huntley scored in the final minutes to send the Falcons to their first state semifinal since they won their third state title in 2013.
In the region semifinals Severna Park faced 2015 state finalist Meade, who defeated the Falcons 2-0 in the Anne Arundel County championship game. Behind nine saves from junior Sam Farrell, the Falcons advanced with a 2-0 win. Junior Andrew Belloff converted a penalty in the first half, and Severna Park (15-2-1) held off heaps of pressure before Huntley iced the game in stoppage time.
4A North region final: Bel Air 1, Sherwood 1 (Bel Air advances 5-4 on penalty kicks)
Sherwood shut out Paint Branch, Mergenthaler Vocational and Howard to advance to the 4A North region final. After regulation and overtime finished tied 1-1, the Warriors fell in penalty kicks.

The victory gave the Vikings their first region title since 2011.
Mount Hebron will face either Lansdowne or Towson on Saturday at Linganore in the 3A semifinals.

Centennial is scheduled to play again Saturday at Linganore against perennial Frederick County powerhouse Urbana, which defeated Blake, 4-0, in Monday's 3A West region championship game.
2A North region final: River Hill 5, Hereford 2
After a one-year hiatus, the Hawks are back in the state semifinals thanks to two early goals by junior captain Megan Chun which set the stage for a convincing victory. The Hawks won three straight Maryland 3A state championships between 2012 and 2014 before bowing out in the first round of the 2A playoffs a year ago. They will get to play at home in the 2A state semifinals, which were already scheduled to be held at River Hill this season. The Hawks will face the winner of Tuesday night's 2A East region final between defending state champion Fallston and Queen Anne's.
