Lamont Atkins did not want to wait until National Signing Day to be a Virginia Cavalier. He signed a scholarship agreement with Virginia in September and graduated from Lake Braddock in December so he could enroll early in Charlottesville.
He’ll spend National Signing Day with the rest of the Wahoos, welcoming new signees.

Atkins rushed for 1,905 yards and 31 touchdowns on 157 carries — a whopping 12.1 yards per carry and a touchdown on average every 5 carries — his senior year. He also started at linebacker and led the Bruins in tackles.
He was named Gatorade player of the year in Virginia and was selected as an All-Met at linebacker.
