Will this be the final word on the Jay-Z and Beyonce Cuba trip controversy? Eh, probably not, but at least we now have a Cuba-American rapper weighing in. Miami-based hip-hop star Pitbull released his own musical reaction on Monday, in which he made it clear he’s no Castro sympathizer (“C-U-B-A, hope to see you free one day”), but also took a dig at the politicians who objected to the stars’ trip: “Question of the night / Would they have messed with Mr. Carter if he was white?” In a short tune that references Elian Gonzalez and Meyer Lansky, the son of Cuban immigrants also unearths a historic resentment: “Bay of Pigs, big bluff. / We thought they had our back but they left us straight stuck.”
