Engaged: Savannah Guthrie, 41, and Michael Feldman, 44. She’s the co-host of NBC’s “Today,” he’s the veteran Al Gore adviser who is now a managing director of the D.C. strategic communications firm Glover Park Group.
Dating since 2009, when she was NBC’s White House correspondent, they got engaged during a weekend getaway in Turks and Caicos — and the news was announced, of course, this morning on “Today,” where guest Bradley Cooper presented Guthrie with roses and all her co-hosts made an appropriate fuss. Guthrie, who was previously married, said of her new fiance: “He’s the best person. He knows me inside and out, and we just adore each other.” She added: “Our mothers are like, ‘Hallelujah!’”
Update, 10:05 a.m.: The congratulations continued into the ever-bonkers fourth hour of “Today,” when Feldman gamely submitted himself to some hazing via phone at the hands of Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. “Were you nervous? You knew she was going to say yes, right? The woman’s desperate!” bantered Gifford. Joked Feldman, “I hoped there was a secondary market for diamonds like that.”
