Jim Kolbe, former congressman, weds Hector Alfonso

Married: Former Rep. Jim Kolbe to Hector Alfonso, in a ceremony at the Cosmos Club in Washington before about 125 friends Saturday afternoon. Kolbe, 70, is a fellow at the German Marshall Fund who spent 22 years representing Arizona in Congress; Alfonso, in his mid-40s, is a Panama native and longtime special-ed teacher, now trying his hand at real estate. Kolbe, who came out in 1996 to become the second openly gay Republican to serve in Congress, met Alfonso at a reception at his D.C. home in 2004 and they’ve been together since then.
