Prince Philip is in a hospital awaiting surgery, just days after attending ceremonies marking the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation. His check-in Thursday was planned, Buckingham Palace said — something to do with the results of recent “abdominal investigations,” reports AP. He’s expected to spend about two weeks in the hospital. Grandson Peter Phillips (Princess Anne’s son) told a TV interviewer this week that the public shouldn’t be surprised if the royal duo miss the “odd engagement,” now that she is 87 and he turns 92 on Monday. Still, Phillips said, “they do a lot more than most other pensioners of their equivalent age.”
