Maybe someone needs to go back to that deserted island for a while — by himself this time. Sen. Jeff Flake apologized Wednesday for gay and ethnic slurs used on Twitter by his 15-year-old son Tanner. This is one of the two sons the Arizona Republican recently took on a four-day survivalist trip to a North Pacific island. “I’m very disappointed in my teenage son’s words, and I sincerely apologize for the insensitivity,” Flake said in a statement to Buzzfeed, which discovered the tweets. This language is unacceptable, anywhere. Needless to say, I’ve already spoken with him about this, he has apologized, and I apologize as well.”
