“Two years’ rent! It’s hard core some of the stuff that goes along with having this reputation.”

— Courtney Love bemoaning to Newsday the legacy of two decades of public acting-out (erratic behavior, addiction problems, near-bankruptcy, a long-running legal fight with her daughter): Her Greenwich Village landlord demanded first year and last year rent (not just first month-last month) in advance! (Hey, better than prison and/or death, right?) The whole interview, promoting a new small-club tour — is a couple days old but worth reading. The greater mission behind her tour: “The people of Lubbock, Texas, or Peoria or wherever would be well-served and I think I would be well-served if my reputation didn’t suffer these slings and arrows that actually harm my capacity to function.”

Earlier: Courtney Love stumbled, complained and stripped through a bad show at 9:30 Club, 6/29/10
