Singer Aretha Franklin had a “miraculous” recovery from an undisclosed health problem, the Associated Press reports. The Queen of Soul, 71, told the AP that a recent CAT scan showed that she was 85 percent improved. The singer had canceled multiple concerts and performances, but did not reveal specifics of her illness. “I’m not one to go into my personal health things,” she said.
Reporting for dad duty
Simon Cowell told the BBC that he is looking forward to being a father, acknowledging for the first time that he is expecting a child with socialite Laura Silverman. Cowell, 53, had been quiet about the impending arrival while Silverman was still finalizing her divorce from real estate mogul Andrew Silverman. Cowell opened up about fatherhood at the world premiere of the film “One Direction: This Is Us” in London on Tuesday. The “X-Factor” curmudgeon said he is “proud to be a dad” and that Silverman is “a very special girl.”
Clarkson’s new gig
On Ryan Seacrest’s radio show Tuesday, singer Kelly Clarkson raved about being a step-mother to the two children of her fiance, music manager Brandon Blackstock. People reports that Clarkson appeared on “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” and chatted about her upcoming wedding and having a 12-year-old and a 6-year-old in her life. “It’s so different, but it’s perfect. They’re awesome, and I actually really dig the mom thing.”
