Clooney’s satellite help in Sudan
At the Venice Film Festival for the world premiere of his latest movie “Gravity,” George Clooney touted the Satellite Sentinel Project, which he helped found, in stopping some violence in Sudan. Clooney, 52, told the Associated Press that the project uses satellite imagery to monitor acts of war between Sudan and South Sudan and has been “incredibly successful” in limiting violence.
Baldwin still fighting paparazzi
New dad Alec Baldwin got into another tussle with a photographer, according to the New York Post. Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria, who gave birth to a daughter on Aug 23., were approached by a photographer on the sidewalk; Hilaria ducked into a tea shop to avoid him, and the paparazzo followed. The “Blue Jasmine” actor put the photographer in an armlock against a car. The NYPD arrived but neither sided wanted to press charges.

Oprah Winfrey,in town to mark the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, dined with friends Tuesday evening at Proof restaurant on G Street. The party of four had dinner at 8 p.m., and Oprah was wearing a a short-sleeved, black dress. They shared appetizers and ate striped bass. No dessert for Oprah but she did enjoy a cocktail with tea after dinner.
