White House cancels Latin music celebration after Navy Yard shooting

The White House, which was originally scheduled to host yet another star-studded musical tribute Monday night, announced this afternoon that it has postponed the “Musica Latina” concert, “in light of today’s tragic events at the Washington Navy Yard and out of respect for the victims and their families.”

Gloria Estefan, Romeo Santos, Lila Downs, Marco Antonio Solis were among the musicians scheduled to perform at the latest in a series of concerts taped for PBS’s “In Performance at the White House.”
