With little fanfare, Elton John slipped into town Wednesday night to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Rockefeller Foundation. The singer appeared at Red Cross National Headquarters with his partner, David Furnish, for an awards dinner that honored him for advocacy on behalf of people with HIV/AIDS through the Elton John AIDS Foundation. “When we started the foundation, we were not shooting for the stars. We simply wanted to do something — anything — to help,” Elton said.
