Chris Brown has checked out of rehab after two weeks and will continue outpatient treatment, the singer’s rep confirmed Thursday to E! News.
“Chris is continuing his rehab program as an outpatient and is also completing his community service in the Los Angeles area,” the rep said in a statement.
Brown had quite the weekend in Washington last month, in town to perform during Howard University’s Homecoming weekend — he and his bodyguard were arrested Oct. 27 and spent the night in jail after allegedly punching a man outside the W Hotel. When he appeared in court the following day, his charges were reduced to a misdemeanor charge of simple assault.
Shortly after, Brown, 24, announced he would check into a rehab facility to “gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point.”
If convicted, Brown, who is still on probation for hitting former girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, could face a maximum of 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. Part of his probation is making up court-ordered community service hours that were originally supposed to be completed in his native Virginia, but now apparently will take place in Los Angeles.
He is expected back in D.C. court on Nov. 25.
