— President Obama and the first lady celebrating Valerie Jarrett’s 57th birthday Friday (one day late) at Restaurant Nora in Dupont Circle. The couple arrived at 6:50 p.m. through a side entrance and joined a party of 15 in a private room downstairs. The Obamas ate beet salad and filet mignon; for dessert, guests had birthday cake — and the president sampled the apple pie and tiramisu. Despite the health-care mess, the White House staffers sounded high-spirited and festive, according to our spies, and owner Nora Pouillon stopped in to greet the first couple, who also dined at the organic restaurant for the first lady’s birthday in 2010.
