Washington’s all abuzz about new Redskins head coach Jay Gruden. And while we’ll happily leave analysis of the new guy’s offensive philosophy, relationship with RG III, and the like to our competent colleagues, we’re interested in getting to know Gruden, the man. Or, make that Gruden the dude.

So, what do we know? Not much, yet. But we did dig up this awesome 2005 interview with the Orlando Sentinel that makes him sound like your average, all-American suburban dad.

His dream dinner is a T-bone, a baked potato and a “good vegetable.”

He likes Rodney Dangerfield, movies with “some shooting and killing,” and the sitcom “Cheers.”

Sounds American as apple pie — though Gruden told the Sentinel that he prefers a slightly edgier dessert: cheesecake.
