WASHINGTON, DC - JANUARY 15: Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee member Sen. Edward Markey (D-MA) holds up a small four-bladed remote controlled helicopter during a hearing about the future of unmanned aviation in the Russell Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill January 15, 2014 in Washington, DC. The committee heard testimony about the Federal Aviation Administration's policy on unmanned aviation systems and about the privacy and freedom issues surrounding their use. Hey, Isn’t That… Sen. Ed Markey, making a beeline for the snack foods at a downtown CVS last night after wrapping up an evening meeting at the White House.

The Massachusetts Democrat grabbed a box of Cheez-Its at the drugstore at the corner of 15th and K Streets, paid, and barely waited until he was out of the door to dig in to the cheesy treat. We’re thinking the White House might need to step up its snack-food offerings, if senators are leaving hungry.

There were weightier matters on the table, of course, at the Wednesday confab, during which the President urged Democratic senators to delay new sanctions against Iran while the U.S. and its allies negotiate on nuclear arms.  But the administration might consider that lawmakers can hear their message more clearly if their stomachs aren’t growling.
