Celeb: Actor Lance Gross, who was last seen playing the gullible husband in Tyler Perry’s 2013 film “Temptation” and who’s starring as a secret service agent in NBC’s new political thriller “Crisis” out in March.
Cause: Gross lent his star power to Verizon Wireless’ 20-year-old Hopeline project, which donates refurbished cell phones to local domestic violence agencies. Over the next month Gross, along with other stars like Keke Palmer and Regina Hall, will be making stops throughout the country with the wireless company as part of a Black History Month initiative, “Potential of Us,” which aims to boost community involvement in social issues.
Scene: On Saturday afternoon the young and old alike waited patiently behind a velvet rope in the food court of the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City to snap a selfie with Gross who looked “I woke up like this” casual in grey jeans, black leather combat boots and black-rimmed hispter glasses. Gross’s mega-watt never fadded as the long line of giggling teenagers (and their moms) seemed just as interminable. Also, the actor gives a mean duck face.
Soundbite: “There’s power in numbers,” said Gross during a brief break from taking photos with adoring fans. “You can get anything done when you have a good network behind you.”
