Julianne Brienza, executive director and founding member of summer theater staple the Capital Fringe Festival, gave us a small taste of what good weather looks like when she let us in on her “favorite secret spot” in the District. Here’s hoping that the winter doesn’t last forever.
Spot: The Mount St. Sepulchre Franciscan Monastery, 1400 Quincy St NE
How she found it: “After I had lived in Brookland for at least half a year, I was walking around the neighborhood and stumbled upon it. I probably walk up to it at least a few times a month or so.”
Why she loves it: “It’s a quiet place to either sketch, read or process an idea. They have the most amazing rose garden in the summer. I’m not very religious, so I haven’t gone to Mass. It’s just a place to hit refresh that is just a few steps from my front door.”
