‘She Blinded Me With Science’ singer Thomas Dolby to be Hopkins professor

Baltimore, get your eyeglasses ready. Thomas Dolby, the man behind the 1982 earworm hit “She Blinded Me With Science,” is going to be a Johns Hopkins University professor.

Dolby will be teaching a fall course called “Sound on Film” as the university’s first Homewood Professor of the Arts, the university announced on Thursday. He’s not exactly a one-hit wonder — Dolby’s been busy since that early-80’s hit (which had a video played in heavy rotation during the early years of MTV back when the channel actually played music videos), working in digital music and film making and serving as the musical director of the TED conference for a dozen years.
