Pharrell’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton: Will ‘Happy’ be her campaign anthem?

Looks like we’ve got an early celebrity endorsement for the 2016 presidential race: Rapper Pharrell Williams is backing Hillary Rodham Clinton — and from the sound of it, the appreciation is mutual.

Williams raved about Clinton in an interview out Tuesday with GQ, citing her pro-choice stance, ability to unify America and the need for more women leaders as reasons he’s behind a Clinton run — even though the former secretary of state has yet to formally announce a bid. “Hillary’s gonna win,” he told GQ. “Listen, I’m reaching out to her right now. She’s gonna win.”

And in a sign that Clinton is “Happy” about him, too, our colleague Philip Rucker notes that the singer’s hit “Happy” was played several times at Clinton Global Initiative University this past weekend at Arizona State.

Could be a preview of what to expect for the campaign soundtrack. Now how about a “Hillary 2016″ Pharrell-style hat…
