Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf tours National Museum of African Art

Hey isn’t that… Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on a private tour of the National Museum of African Art, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year on Sunday?

A stately Johnson Sirleaf, never without her traditional head wrap, was accompanied by the museum’s president, Johnnetta B. Cole, while chief curator Christine Mullen Kreamer walked her through the museum’s latest exhibit, “Visions of the Forests: The Art of Liberia and Sierra Leone.”

Johnson Sirleaf was on this side of the Atlantic for the Harvard Kennedy School’s two-day “IDEASpHERE” forum last week. On Friday HKS unveiled a portrait of Johnson Sirleaf that will hang in the school’s library, who received a master’s in public administration from Harvard in 1971 and a honorary law degree in 2011.
