The first lady of the United States and the first lady of style — that would be Michelle Obama and Sarah Jessica Parker respectively — revealed a few things about their long-running friendship in sit-down interview aired on Tuesday. The most surprising revelation? Parker, who’s been a strong supporter of the Obamas for years, has yet to accept an invite to dine at the White House.
“We’re begging her like, ‘Come on. Come over. We mean it,” Obama told Billy Bush of “Access Hollywood,” after adding that the real SJP–as Parker is known to legions of “Sex and the City” fans–is actually quite shy. “She’s getting red,” joked Obama who also described Parker as “real.”
“It’s been a privilege to be a surrogate in some way,” replied Parker who was at the White House to participate in the Turnaround Arts initiative’s first talent show. “Maybe we’ll be bold enough to accept the next invite for dinner.”
So does this mean more Sarah Jessica Parker sightings around town are in the District’s future? Fingers crossed.
