In a nutshell? The two met at the private school for politicians’ kids, Sidwell Friends. They began dating long distance in 2010. The bride, 28, wore Monique Lhuillier. The groom, 31, was all smiles, natch. And Al and Tipper, who separated after nearly four decades of marriage in 2010 but who regularly gather for family time in Tennessee, both showed up to celebrate the nuptials. That’s the press-release version. But in the age of Twitter and Instagram, there are always more tidbits to chew on.
Back in April, the mother-of-the-groom, former second lady Tipper Gore, held a bridal shower, complete with cupcakes and fancy hats, for Toscano at her family home in Arlington, Va.
The elder Gore kicked off the wedding weekend on Friday with a welcome dinner at the Society of the Cincinnati‘s gilded Anderson House mansion on Embassy Row.
The ceremony was held at Union Station, a nod to the couple’s long distance roots (she was in New York, he was in Washington) and the reception bursting with flowers followed in the train station’s East Hall.
After the festivities the new Mr. and Mrs. Gore celebrated with a 6 a.m. pizza breakfast at the Hotel Monaco in Penn Quarter, where most of the wedding party stayed during the weekend.
