Singer Shakira gives her 1-year-old son a history lesson at the Jefferson Memorial

Hey isn’t that… Colombian singer-song writer Shakira and her 1-year-old son, Milan, at the Jefferson Memorial on Friday afternoon? A video posted on the world-renowned hip shaker’s Facebook page shows Shakira quizzing an adorable shag-sporting toddler on her hip: “Where’s Thomas Jefferson?” Milan, dressed in a black T-shirt that reads, “sorry girls I only date models,” passes with flying colors, pointing directly at the statue of America’s third president.

Even more impressive? The kid knows what an obelisk is.

“Mommy is explaining the Declaration of Independence! I’m very interested in history!” posted the singer on Facebook. And it turns out her lips don’t lie. In the summer of 2007 the Grammy winner took an introduction to Western  civilization course at UCLA after her “Oral Fixation” tour ended. That’s one way to spend your down time.

Shakira and son (along with her brother Tonino) are in town with her boyfriend and Milan’s dad, soccer star Gerard Piqué, who’s prepping for the World Cup with Spain’s national soccer team at RFK Stadium this week.
