Katy Perry loves art … if it features Katy Perry

Katy Perry, lover of America, is also a fan of art. Or at least she appreciates a genre featuring a subject near and dear to her heart: Katy Perry.

The pop princess this week took Washington by glittery storm, performing twice at the Verizon Center, hanging with “QT” Joe Biden — and, we learned today, visiting the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery to visit “Cupcake Katy,” the painting of her by New York artist Will Cotton.

KP dropped by Wednesday night before her second D.C. show and snapped a selfie with the painting (ooh, sooo meta):

No word on whether Perry also visited Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, which this week debuted a likeness of her, too.
