From “Breaking Bad” to “breaking” websites; Aaron Paul’s Emmy speech crashes wife’s charitable website
Last night at the Emmys, the former “Breaking Bad” actor Aaron Paul devoted much of his moment in the spotlight to someone else; his wife, Lauren Parsekian.
During his Emmy-acceptance speech for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Paul expressed his sincere, heartfelt gratitude for Parsekian and plugged his wife’s charity, The Kind Campaign, which aims to eliminate girl-on-girl bullying.
“My wife — my God, thank you for marrying me, thank you for dedicating your life to spread kindness around the world. We all appreciate it,” said the 34-year old actor, snagging his third Emmy win of the night. “If you guys don’t know what she does, look up Kind Campaign. Do yourself and your children a favor- Kind Campaign.”
And the Internet did just that. The primetime nod promptly inspired a flood of web traffic to the anti-bullying website, which overwhelmed the web server and ultimately crashed it. The website went back online early Tuesday morning.
Young Jeezy arrested
The Grammy-nominated rapper Jay Jenkens, better known as “Young Jeezy,” was arrested Sunday for possession of an illegal firearm following an investigation of a fatal shooting at a Wiz Khalifia concert last week in Mountain View, Calif. The local police department confiscated an assault rifle believed to belong to the Atlanta rapper on his tour bus after a search warrant had been issued in connection with the shooting. The San Jose Mercury News reported that five other crew members were arrested on similar gun possession charges.
The 36-year-old performer, currently the headliner for Wiz Khalifa on the “Under the Influence of Music Tour,” is in custody at the Orange County Jail with a $1 million bail. It is not the Def Jam artist’s first run-in with the law; he was arrested in 2008 in Atlanta on a DUI charge and this past January for battery, false imprisonment and making terrorist threats after an alleged fight with his son.
Hayden Panettiere reveals baby news on the red carpet
It’s a girl for “Nashville” star Hayden Panettiere and her Ukrainian heavyweight champion fiancé Wladimir Klitschko.
“I’m thrilled! I can’t wait for her to come out,” revealed the glam mom-to-be to E! News correspondent Giuliana Rancic on the Emmys red carpet. Rancic, picking up on the baby scoop, replied, “It’s a girl?”
“I think I just said that, didn’t I?” said the 25-year old actress responded, realizing she’d announced the news on live television. “Yes, it’s a little girl.” Panettiere officially confirmed she was expecting her first child in an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video posted Aug. 20 on “Dancing With the Stars” alum Derek Hough‘s Instagram page.
“2 Broke Girls”… and Kim Kardashian
It seems ironic that recent video game mogul Kim Kardashian West would appear in anything with the word “broke” attached to it. The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star announced Monday on Twitter that she will be guest starring in the Oct. 27 season premiere of the CBS hit comedy series “2 Broke Girls.” This isn’t the first time Kim K has dabbled in scripted TV; past acting gigs include “Drop Dead Diva”, “CSI: NY” and “Brothers.”
