Feel free to stop me if you’ve heard this one already. A politician gets caught with a prostitute or two (snore), then goes on the run from the FBI (hmm) with a bumbling sidekick in tow (okay), and a drug dealing gang is also hot on his trail (now we’re talking).

No, this isn’t the headline of your latest smartphone news alert, it’s the trailer-ready plot of “The Politician,” a new comedy starring Vince Vaughn as your neighborhood political bad boy, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In his 25-year career Vaughn has played a womanizing wedding crasher, Santa’s bitter big bro and tons of freakishly tall everymen in between. But the comedian has yet to debut his deadpan big kid shtick on the political stage.

Just quickly ticking off some of the national names in close proximity to prostitutes there’s former congressman Barney Frank (D-Mass.), who in 1990 was “reprimanded” for his relationship with a male prostitute; former congressman David Vitter (R-La.), who apologized in 2007 after his name was mentioned in connection to the “D.C. Madam”; and former New York governor Eliot Spitzer, whose 2008 prostitution scandal ran him out of office.

So Vaughn has several real-life muses to draw inspiration from.
