It’s oh-so-hushed-up wedding bells for perennial always-a-girlfriend-never-a-bride Cameron Diaz and everyone’s favorite southern Maryland rocker, Benji Madden.

The couple wed in an intimate but star-studded ceremony at the actress’s Beverly Hills home on Monday night, Us Weekly reports, pulling off a sneaky nuptial coup coveted among the A-listy crowd, only given away by reports of a rehearsal dinner on Sunday.

One reason the cloak and dagger routine might have worked: despite the tabloid obsession with starlets’ aisle-walking, Diaz, 42, long professed herself uninterested in the institution of marriage. “I think the big misconception in our society is that we’re supposed to meet the one when we’re 18 and we’re supposed to get married to them and love them for the rest of our lives. Bull****,” the “Annie” star told Britain’s Stylist magazine, per Us Weekly.

Another explanation: while Diaz is of the Hollywood A-list set, Madden’s more known for dating well (he’s been paired with Sophie Monk and Paris Hilton.) Madden, 35, hails from Waldorf, Md., and first rocketed to fame with twin brother Joel as the guitarist for the band Good Charlotte. The duo now perform as the Madden Brothers.

Not that Diaz’s romantic resume isn’t impressive, too — her exes include Justin Timberlake and Alex Rodriguez.

Of course, there’s a gushing joint statement. “We couldn’t be happier to begin our new journey together surrounded by our closest family and friends,” the couple tells People mag
