Washington’s twin obsessions du jour — Israel and “House of Cards” — are colliding in this video, a political ad by Michael Oren, a former Israeli ambassador to the United States who is running for a seat in the Israeli parliament as a member of the Kulanu party.

In the spot, Oren uses the Netflix series as shorthand for a corrupt and greedy governing style. And in his effort to channel Frank Underwood, Oren, a New York native, might have the worst fake Southern accent we’ve heard.

“Tonight starts the new season of ‘House of Cards,'” Oren says, addressing the camera directly in HoC’s distinctive breaking-the-fourth-wall style. “It’s a TV program about dirty politics.

“If you’re tired of dirty politics in Israel, on March 17, you vote for Kulanu.”
