Soccer superstar Abby Wambach, who will be campaigning for Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire this weekend, on Friday revealed her motivations for backing the Democrat: The World Cup veteran says it’s all about role models.

“I like to think that a 10-year-old girl can see someone who looks like them… in the Oval Office — that’s motivation for me,” she said in an interview with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell. “To see the most powerful person in the planet [is] her gender.”

She was also low-key about her political activism. Asked if it was her first foray, Wamback downplayed her role. “I’m just on the other side of a camera, being myself and hoping to see Hillary in the Oval Office.”

Wamback is slated to appear at several Granite State events for Clinton with “Girls” creator Lena Dunham.
