Hey, isn’t that… Human-rights attorney Amal Clooney, pounding the Washington pavement on Tuesday?

Clooney, in a black skirt suit (somber save for sparkly rhinestone buttons), was spotted downtown and on Capitol Hill, where she met with lawmakers to discuss the plight of her client, Mohamed Nasheed, the former president of the Maldives who was jailed on terrorism charges.

Spies who caught sight of the lawyer/wife of A-list actor George Clooney (those descriptors come in order of importance, obviously) rushing between meetings described her as “tall” and “friendly but businesslike.”

In a video interview with Amnesty International in October, Clooney called Nasheed’s trial “sham proceedings… it was clearly a politicized way to get him out of the scene and not able to run in the presidential elections in 2018.”
