This year’s fickle weather might have made the date for “peak bloom” of the city’s legendary cherry blossoms a bit of a moving target.

Also unpredictable? The wild pink cocktail attire sported by attendees of Friday night’s Pink Tie Gala at the Reagan Building: Guests sartorial statements included fascinator hats, a maribou coat and blush-hued ties aplenty.

The annual soiree kicks off the National Cherry Blossom Festival with food and cocktails from dozens of DC restaurants, a silent auction, and on-theme cherry blossom decor. One highlight: A $1,750 Fendi keychain in the likeness of designer Karl Lagerfeld. Add in a lifesize airplane business class cabin courtesy of Japanese airline ANA and you’ve got a party, apparently.
