The jurist was with longtime Washington talk-show host Bill Press and his wife, Carol, a spy says. And the trio lucked out, big-time — there was no line at the trendy restaurant, which accepts no reservations and often boasts a queue out the door of would-be diners hoping to snag a table.

Earlier, Press had interviewed Sotomayor at the nearby Hill Center, where the Obama appointee urged those discouraged by the election results that “we can’t afford to despair, and we can’t afford to give up.”
