Trump doesn’t have an official role in her father’s nascent administration, unlike her husband, Jared Kushner, who is advising his father-in-law. But her presence at the diplomatic shindig — and Saturday’s Alfalfa dinner — hints that she might prove to be a White House proxy in social Washington.
Trump cut a glamorous figure at the party, which was co-sponsored by the Meridian International Center and seemed — unlike her blustery father — willing to wage a charm offense. Asked by a fellow partygoer about the first daughter, Cui indicated that she’d delivered compliments: “She really likes China,” he said.
On Thursday morning, Ivanka posted a video of her daughter on Instagram, playing with a traditional Chinese marionette and singing a song in Mandarin. “Arabella singing a song she learned for #ChineseNewYear,” she captioned it. “Wishing everyone an amazing year to come during these days of celebration. 新年快乐”
