“It’s talking about, ‘put a ring on the finger — don’t fall for the guy unless he’s willing to fall for you fully,’ ” he says. “It tells a story — it’s a modern story, but it’s a story that to be honest, Motown could have told a generation ago and actually did.”
He’s not into all of Beyoncé’s oeuvre, he notes, but “I like a lot of it — she’s got a great voice.”
