It was Daniels who nixed her sit-down with the panel, an ABC rep says. A Daniels rep couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
But the scotched appearance follows Daniels’s super-awkward interview Tuesday night on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in which the late-night host tried to pry information about the once-alleged affair out of the adult-movie actress to no avail. Daniels even at one point suggested that she hadn’t written or signed her own statement denying the affair (although her rep confirmed to us that she had, in fact).
Daniels did give a hint about why she would be so evasive: In a skit with Kimmel she indicated (without using words!) that she had been gagged. Kimmel produced puppets and asked her to “show me on the puppet what he did to you.” Daniels then held up her own doll, which had a piece of tape over its mouth.
And later, when the comedian deduced that if she had not signed a nondisclosure agreement, she wouldn’t have a problem saying so. “You’re so smart, Jimmy,” she replied.
The hosts of “The View” on Wednesday wondered whether Daniels might cancel, even after Kimmel on Tuesday night shot back at “The View” guest host S.E. Cupp’s comments on his booking Daniels — she said if he was going to give such a platform to the porn star, he should also give airtime to Monica Lewinsky, who had an affair with President Bill Clinton. (Kimmel pointed out that he had, in fact, had Lewinsky as a guest — three times.)
“I hope she comes, right?” “View” co-host Sunny Hostin said Wednesday. But co-host Whoopi Goldberg seemed unimpressed with Daniels’s evasiveness: “I don’t personally care.”
So the moral of the story? People who’ve signed nondisclosure agreements don’t make for great guests on talk shows.
