*D.C. United closed the first stage of training camp Friday with a 1-1 draw against Swedish club Malmo in Bradenton, Fla. Trialist Joseph Nane scored a 75th-minute equalizer on a header set up by midfielder Kyle Porter, a guest player from second-division FC Edmonton who was in Canada’s national team camp in January and will begin a formal trial with United this coming week. *United returned to Washington on Friday afternoon for a free weekend. Practice will resume Monday through Wednesday at Long Bridge Park in Arlington, a county facility, during the lunch hour (weather permitting). The club will depart Thursday morning for Orlando and a 17-day camp built around the Disney Pro Soccer Classic, an eight-team preseason tournament. United will play four matches as well as an off-site friendly against the Philadelphia Union.

*United is nearing a resolution with Albanian striker Hamdi Salihi. It’s unclear whether the club will have to buy him out or he will leave on a free transfer. (My guess is the latter.) If completed by March 1, Salihi’s departure would clear considerable salary cap space.

*Argentine center back Emiliano Dudar, whose contract option was not exercised and was offered a reduced salary, has signed with Chiasso in the Swiss second division. Like with Salihi, United had not counted on him returning after one season in Washington.

*Reports out of Honduras say recently transferred Andy Najar was injured with Anderlecht this week and might miss Honduras’s World Cup qualifier against the United States.
